It all started when…

a small group of ambitious members of different Lutheran congregations gathered together with an enlightened idea. After attending a LWML workshop, they were informed of the high need for child care in Saskatoon, and soon the committee was formed with the plan to create a preschool that would help children experience the love of God.

Within a short time, our first preschool location, in Grace Lutheran Church, was holding an open house. After the success of the preschool, the committee received the initiative they needed to continue their work and build a Child Care Center.  In 1999, after the hard work and labor of the committee and many volunteers, the Center on Mcmillan Avenue, beside Holy Cross Lutheran Church, was ready to open the doors to Mount Royal and surrounding communities.

Since that time, LELC expanded both the Child Care and Preschool programs to the cities of Martensville in 2004 and Warman (2015). In 2013 discussions began regarding a new center in Warman, SK. Two years later, LELC opened a third center servicing 51 licensed spaces. Over a few years LELC expanded the licensed spaces to include an infant program and additional preschool spaces to total 79 spaces services Warman and surrounding communities.

In 2022 LELC expanded our programs across Martensville and purchased a new building to add more licensed spaces to our existing 30. The preschool program operates out of Venture Heights school, a School Age program in partnership with New Horizon Senior Center in addition to Centennial LELC which opened their doors September 18, 2023. THis new location is licensed for for 51 children age infant through 6 years. We are grateful for the many relationships we have built through these ventures and endless support we have received from the community and the City of Martensville. A special thanks to Venture Heights School (Principal Ron), Prairie Spirit School Division, and the members of the New Horizon Senior Center that has graciously welcomed us into their space!

October 2, 2023 marked the opening of our newest location in the Sutherland community of Saskatoon. We moved the existing 30 spaces from McMillan Avenue and added 59 new spaces to the under serviced area in the city. We pray that the new owners of the McMillan building will find many years of exciting new ventures and growth in a building that served us very well. It was sad to let go of 24 years of history, but we look forward to future endeavors within our new locations.
